Towards a history of the development of osteopathy

Abstract
This article examines the background to the emergence and development of osteopathy. We analyse specific features of attitudes to manual methods of treatment, and identify key aspects of the development of osteopathy. We describe the circumstances in which the world’s first school of osteopathy opened in Kirksville in 1892.
