Abstract
This article examines institutional factors in the development of local orthopaedics in 1920‒1945. The study was carried out using unpublished documents from the State Archive of the Russian Federation, the State Archive of Saratov Oblast, the archive of the Research Institute of Traumatology, Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery of the Razumovsky Saratov State Medical University, and personal documents. Most of these documents are being introduced into scientific literature for the first time
