It covers the cost of online tools for editors and authors, as well as the creation and hosting of the article. The handling fee must be paid before publication.

2-Production Costs:
Typesetting, formatting, and preparing manuscripts for publication.
Creating high-quality figures and images.

3-Open Access Hosting and Archiving:
Maintaining an online platform for immediate, free access to all articles.
Ensuring long-term access through digital preservation services such as CLOCKSS and Portico.

4-Technical Infrastructure:
Developing and maintaining the online submission and review system.
Utilizing plagiarism detection software.
Ensuring the security and functionality of the journal's website.

5-Marketing and Promotion:
Promoting published articles to increase visibility and impact.
Ensuring indexing and abstracting in major academic databases.

Voluntary Contribution Details

Amount: Authors of funded articles can voluntarily contribute an amount of their choosing.
Usage: Contributions support editorial processes, production, infrastructure, hosting, and journal promotion.
Transparency: Contributors receive a detailed report on how their contributions are utilized to support journal operations.

Waiver Policy

Since the Journal of History of Medicine charges a mandatory APC:
