In the I.M. Sechenov First MSMU was held a series of jubilee events dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the Department of the History of Medicine, National History and Culturology.

November 19, 2014 held an enlarged meeting of the editorial board of the journal “History of Medicine”, active part in which took G. Russell, D. Ganz, D. Lanska. It was decided to enter the editorial board of G. Russell and N.I. Serikova.

20-21 November 2014 in the Museum of the History of Medicine held a Scientific International Conference “Galen: history and tasks of research studies”, which became a discussion forum for understanding the processes of formation and development of the history of medicine as a science, analysis of works of Galen with positions interdisciplinary approach. The conference was attended by 10 foreign speakers from among the world’s leading experts in the field of philosophy and the history of medicine: Armelle Debru (France), Guel Russell (USA), Jeremy Ganz (UK), Axel Karenberg (Germany), Douglas Lanska (USA), Nikolaj I. Serikoff (UK), Teun Tieleman (The Netherlands), Gary Ferngren (USA), Hormoz Ebrahimnejad (UK), Philip van der Eijk (Germany).
Also reports was presented by Chairman of the History of Medicine, National History and culturology, MD, Professor Dmitry A. Balalykin and Head of the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, Institute of Philosophy, Doctor of Philosophy, Prof. Vladimir L. Vasyukov.
The conference was attended by representatives of many Russian regions.
In the conference was opened an exhibition devoted to the contribution of the Department to the study and preservation of historical heritage in the history of medicine.

24-25 November 2014 for graduate students and young researchers foreign professors Guel Russell, Jeremy Ganz, Axel Karenberg, Douglas Lanska, Nikolaj Serikoff, Teun Tieleman, Gary Ferngren, Hormoz Ebrahimnejad were lectures on the history of medicine.
