Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor, Chief researcher for the Bioethics and Legal Problems of Public Health research laboratory.
Doctoral dissertation topic: “Philosophical and methodological analysis of current problems in bioethics” (1999).

Scientific activities
1974 – postgraduate student at the department of history of foreign philosophy at M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University.
1979 – defended the thesis titled “The problem of nihilism in the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche and Martin Heidegger”.
From 1983, worked in the N. I. Pirogov 2nd Moscow Order of Lenin State Medical Institute at the department of philosophy and cultural studies.
From 1998 to present, under the leadership of I. V. Siluyanova were carried out academic activities for the Church and Community Council on Biomedical Ethics at the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
From 2000 to present – professor, head of the department of biomedical ethics the N. I. Pirogov Russian State Medical University.
Irina Vasilyevna Siluyanova is one of the founders of modern Russian bioethics and organizer of biomedical ethics teaching in medical higher education schools in Russia. The author of nine monographs and textbooks, over 200 scientific articles in academic journals in Russia and abroad. Siluyanova’s books and articles have been translated into numerous foreign languages.

Research Interests
History of bioethics, history of philosophy and methodology of medicine, the Christian religious philosophy and medical law.
