The Association of Inflammatory markers,Interleukin-6, Procalcitonin, COVID-19 immunoglobulins with the severity of COVID-19 patients

Abstract

Objective: COVID-19 in Iraq was so severely affected morbidity and mortality. The inflammatory parameters (CRP, Ferritin, LDH, IL-6), sepsis detected by PCT, and organ infarction reflected by D-Dimer, while COVID-19 IgG, IgM visualize disease pathway was vital in its management. Aim:  The association of IL-6 level with CRP, LDH, ferritin, D-Dimer, PCT, and COVID-19 IgM, IgG to assess the relationship between these biomarkers and the outcomes of individuals with COVID-19 who are hospitalized and those who are not. Methods: This study was conducted at Al-Nahrain University/College of Medicine, department of medical Chemistry, Baghdad, Iraq. The study included 100 patients with confirmed  COVID-19 patients of variable severity through the study of acute inflammatory markers, procalcitonin (PCT), and COVID-19 immunoglobulins IgG and IgM. Statical studies done with clinical analysis results. Results: The results are elevated interleukin-6 and procalcitonin with the inflammatory marker (Fe, CRP,d-dimer, LDH) In covid-19 patients when it is correlated with the control group. IgM covid-19 has elevated at the end of the first infection of covid-19 while IgG is elevated in the second week of covid -19 pations IL-6, Fe, D-Dimer, CRP, and LDH are elevated in group 2,3 more than in group one of covid-19 patients
