Abstract
CR-39 detector is type of sold state detector and is a transparent, stable plastic that reacts to the energetic protons, alpha particles, and heavier nuclei's tracks, used to measurement uranium concentration. This study aimed to measurement uranium concentration in people resident in diyala bridge district and estimate malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration as indication for oxidative stress. This study includes a total 80 blood sample, 40 blood samples (3 ml each) were collected from Diyala bridge district (male and female). Also 40 blood samples (3 ml each) have been collected from the control group. MDA kit was used to measure level of malondialdehyde (MDA) as an indicator for oxidative stress. the result showed higher uranium concentration in people resident in diyala bridge district (exposed), (36.35±10.6ng/l) compared to the control group(not exposed), (22.02±6.83ng/l) In addition, there is no significant difference between exposed male and female, Also result show, people resident in diyala bridge district have highest level of MDA(1.25±0.4)with a significant difference from control groups(0.7±0.09), the results indicate a strong positive correlation between uranium concentration and malondialdehyde.
