Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate oxidative stress in sheep infected with hydatid cyst disease by determining the activities of GSH and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and, then, determining the correlation between them in liver tissues. 30 sheep infected with hydatid cyst disease were chosen and compared to 30 healthy sheep. The levels of GSH and NOS were measured in liver tissues using ELISA. High levels of NOS were found in the affected livers compared to the healthy ones, and there were low levels of GSH compared to the healthy livers. The correlation coefficient between NOS with GSH was found weak. However, the study came to the conclusion that there could be a relationship between NOS oxidants and GSH oxidants.
