Abstract

This research is motivated by various problems related to lesson study management and teacher pedagogic competence management. These two problems are interrelated with each other. Lesson study management in which there are principles of managing teacher pedagogic competence still cannot be realized optimally in its implementation. This condition occurs in junior high school teachers who carry out lesson study at school. It is interesting to do further research to find out why and how it happens and find solutions to the problems faced. Lesson study management is a solution in managing the pedagogical competence of teachers of SMP Negeri 1 Tanjungsari and SMP Negeri 1 Jatinangor as well as junior high schools in general. In particular, this study describes and analyzes the integral approach of quality management "Deming Cycle" from William Edward Deming, namely: Plan, Do, Check and Action with lesson study management stages according to Saito, namely: Plan, Do, and See. The research method used is qualitative method through data collection techniques of interviews, observation, and documentation studies with research loci at SMP Negeri 1 Tanjungsari and SMP Negeri 1 Jatinangor, Sumedang, West Java. The results of the study showed that lesson study management had a very significant impact on the management of teacher pedagogic competence at SMP Negeri 1 Tanjungsari and SMP Negeri 1 Jatinangor, Sumedang. The management of pedagogic competencies felt by teachers after attending lesson studies includes: (1) Teachers can make design lessons optimally, (2) Teachers can apply design lessons well, (3) Teacher insight broadens, (4) Teachers are able to manage classes effectively, (5) Teachers can see strengths and weaknesses in learning and things that need to be improved, (6) Teachers have ways of teaching with a wide selection of methods, models, and strategies that are right to apply in learning, (7) Teachers understand the characteristics of students, (8) Communication that provokes student activity, (9) Know the psychology of students and how to appreciate, (10) Pay attention to students who lack ability with a good approach, (11) Teachers together make teaching aids, (12) Evaluate well, especially in making questions of difficult, medium, and easy types. Thus, the results show that the Management Lesson Study in the Management of Teacher Pedagogic Competencies at SMP Negeri 1 Tanjungsari and SMP Negeri 1 Jatinangor Sumedang has been carried out in a planned, objective, transparent, and measurable manner. In this case, lesson study management starting from planning, implementation, and reflection (see) has basically been implemented based on the theory, concepts, and principles of lesson study. However, in its management there are several obstacles that hinder optimal lesson study management due to internal school factors.
