Learning Management in Strengthening the Character of Students at Islamic Boarding Schools (Research at Suryalaya Tasikmalaya Islamic Boarding School and Darussalam Ciamis Islamic Boarding School)

Abstract

Indonesia is a nation that is developing in various aspects of life, including building national character, because the progress of a country depends on the character of the nation, and because good and reliable national character can be the main factor driving the realization of national development goals. Conversely, a bad and vulnerable character will bring individuals and society of a nation to decline in all walks of life, then the ideals of nation building will fail.) In this case the Education System in Indonesia as stated in the National Education System Law No. 20 of 2003 article 1 paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 function and aim to build national character based on Pancasila by instilling Spiritual (Religious) and Cultural Values in shaping and building the nation's Civilization. Furthermore, as evidence that the government is prioritizing/prioritizing character education in national development, it was strengthened by the issuance of Presidential Regulation no. 87 of 2017 concerning Strengthening Character Education. This study aims to find out how to strengthen the character of students at the Suryalaya Tasikmalaya Islamic Boarding School and the Darussalam Ciamis Islamic Boarding School. This study uses a qualitative approach with the description analysis method. The data in this study were obtained through the results of interviews, observations and documentation studies. The data analysis technique in this study was in the form of a flowing data analysis model (Flow Model), with (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, (3) conclusion drawing, and data validity from this study using techniques (1) credibility and transferability; (2) Dependability/ auditability (Reliability); (3) Confirmability (Objectivity). based on the results of the research, the following are (1) Planning for Strengthening the Santri Character Based on the Vision, Mission, Objectives, Philosophical Values of the Islamic Boarding School, directions from the Islamic Boarding School Leaders related to Approaches, Strategies, Models, and Techniques in Strengthening Santri Character; (2) Organizing in Strengthening the Santri's character is carried out by dividing Teaching Tasks based on the Scientific capacity of Teachers/Ustadz, as well as the existence of a Coordination channel between the three Education centers (Government, community and Internal pesantren); (3) Carry out Activities, Activities carried out in Strengthening the Santri character by means of (a) transfer of knowledge (providing moral education teaching to students (b) transfer of Value (get used to behaving, behaving and acting Islamically, with the Uswatun Hasanah method) (4 ) Evaluation in Strengthening the character of Santri; includes (a) to evaluate their knowledge in the form of Written and Oral Examinations, (b) to evaluate the feeling of love, in carrying out good values, the pesantren provides Guidance groups so that the students' daily activities/activities monitored, (3) in evaluating the habits of students who have guided the character of students, various institutions (Formal, Informal, and Non-formal Education) are involved (5) Obstacles in Strengthening the character of students, consisting of (a) Lack of maximum coordination and cooperation among the Three Education Centers, (b) The diversity of family, social, and cultural backgrounds of the students so that supervisors experience difficulties in upholding Islamic boarding school values; (c) the teachers and advisors do not understand and master the developmental psychology of students/students. (6) The solutions for dealing with obstacles are (a) conducting coordination, deliberations among the Education Tricenters; (b) conducting seminars, workshops and training for supervisors and/or teachers in improving the quality of understanding of developmental psychology and improving the character of students.
